Who are we?
Librecoop is a free software collective for social change. We want to work alongside self-managed groups and organisations in the social and solidarity economy (SSE), creating, adapting and maintaining open source solutions. We’re looking to grow our team and, along the way, make our organisation more plural and diverse. We currently work hand in hand with Ecooo Energía Ciudadana, a cooperative whose goal is to put energy in people’s hands and contribute to social and economic change.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone who works in IT, shares the principles of the social and solidarity economy and social movements, and is interested in free software. Beyond that, we’re looking for the same thing every other job offer asks for: creative people who aren’t afraid of challenges, with initiative, able to organise themselves, committed, talented, eager to learn and with a sense of humour. Experience and languages are also valued.
What do we offer?
The ultimate goal is for the person who joins to become a member of Librecoop. This means that, as well as being employed, they take an active part in the cooperative’s decision-making.
- The satisfaction of knowing your work has a social impact.
- The chance to work with social movements and SSE cooperatives, and to support them through their digital transformation.
- Constant learning.
- Starting conditions: €1,399.49 gross per month for 20 hours a week, with flexible hours as long as you coordinate with your colleagues. Hybrid format with the option of working remotely 3 days a week (depending on projects). Office in the Lavapiés area (Madrid). 23 days of holiday per year.
Start date: early April 2026 at Librecoop, becoming part of a cooperative where your opinion matters exactly as much as anyone else’s.
What will we be doing?
Initially, the work will focus on meeting the technology needs of one of our SSE organisations, Ecooo Energía Ciudadana. We’ll be working with:
- Full stack web development
- Python, Odoo
- PostgreSQL
- Node.js, React, Angular
- GitLab CI, Docker
- Nginx/certbot – web admin tools in general
- Backup and HADR strategies
- Linux server management
- Ansible
Don’t worry if you haven’t mastered all of them. The only thing we absolutely need is knowledge of Python. At Librecoop we understand this is a constantly changing field and it’s hard to keep up with every change. We think it matters more to fit in on a personal and political level; the technical side can always be learned ☺️. And if you work with something that isn’t on the list (yes, Ruby, Vue, Rust… are missing), tell us how we can start making the most of it.
If you’re interested, write to us at [email protected] and tell us why you’d like to work with us. Feel free to include anything interesting: your CV, projects you’ve built, your GitLab/Bitbucket/GitHub account, experience in social movements, activism or volunteering, transcripts, screenshots of stratospheric scores in some extremely difficult game.
Deadline for sending your CV: 18/03/2026
